Embarrassed in Dallas. Final: SMU 106 Memphis 79

The once Top-10 ranked Memphis Tigers were absolutely annihilated on national television Sunday afternoon in front of a former President (George W. Bush) at Moody Coliseum in Dallas, Texas. Final: SMU 106 Memphis 79

13 Memphis rostered players participated, including walk-on guard Joe Cooper who scored a point. But the top-heavy Tigers, despite stat-padder David Jones’ double-double 33 points and 10 assists, weren’t close.

SMU used a balanced attack behind 26 points from bench piece Ricardo Wright, who only averages 5.9 points per game for the Mustangs. Both Zhuric Phelps and Samuell Williamson scored 18 points as the SMU Mustangs cleaned up on the boards (40 vs. 29 for Memphis) and got whatever they wanted against the Tigers.

Afterwards social media, including the X platform, was heavy with thoughts from Tiger fans and 92.9 FM ESPN personalities.
