SCSO corrections officer faces assault charge, relieved of duty, officials say

CORDOVA, Tenn. (WMC) – A Shelby County Sheriff’s Office corrections deputy was arrested and relieved of duty after being accused of assault on Thursday.

The alleged assault happened just after 2 p.m. at a home on Dalgreen Cove, near Walnut Grove, in Cordova.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with a woman who said a man identified as James Webb, 23, allegedly went through her phone before assaulting her, spitting on her and ripping off her clothes. He then chased her out of the residence while she was unclothed. As the victim came back into the residence and called police, she said Webb threatened to kill her and told her, “Call police; I’m ready for a shootout.”
