Mayor outlines spending plan for $3.25M in data center tax money

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Mayor Paul Young laid out a road map Tuesday for where his administration proposes spending $3.25 million in data center tax revenue collected in fiscal year 2026.

The money represents 25% of the tax revenue from the Colossus 1 supercomputer, which is earmarked to go be spent within five miles of the facility in southwest Memphis.

The recommendations come from both a public advisory board as well as a survey of 250 residents, 74% of them from the 38109 Zip code…
