MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A little friendly competition and a lot of community spirit were on the menu Saturday as the Community Service Leaders of America (CSLA) hosted its BBQ Showdown 2: Smoke for a Cause at Morris Park.
Six barbecue teams competed to see who cooked the best rack of ribs, but organizers said the event was about much more than crowning a winner.
The annual event brought together community leaders, nonprofits, churches, businesses, first responders and volunteers to provide free meals, community resources and live entertainment while supporting those in need.

Each competing team was asked to set aside food for unhoused members of the community.
