MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A three-legged dog named Gimper, on the run for three days in Southaven, is back home after it was rescued from a 20-foot sinkhole on Airways and Industrial Drive.
The dog’s owner says Gimper escaped from her backyard around 7 p.m. Saturday.
Carla Chadwick has no idea how long her dog was stuck in that hole, but said he was rescued after a city worker spotted him while checking the sinkhole’s size.
The worker contacted the Southhaven animal shelter, and a longtime animal control officer was able to get to Gimper and hoist him out of the hole.
We are told Gimper was muddy, but is doing fine. He was found about two blocks from his home…
