FedEx moving ahead with ‘Hercules’ package sorting facility

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — FedEx has filed permits to build out a major expansion of the FedEx World Hub at the Memphis airport.

The “Hercules” project will build a new five-story, 1.6 million-square-foot, automated small package sorting facility at the Memphis airport, plans filed with the county show. It will be connected by an elevated bridge to FedEx’s recently completed Secondary 25 sorting center.

The new e-commerce facility is part of FedEx’s strategic initiative to modernize and expand its capacity for small-package sorting operations.
