Power mostly restored across Germantown after grass fire blows transformers

GERMANTOWN, Tenn. (WMC) – Power has been restored to most of Germantown following a widespread outage Thursday morning that initially left more than 2,000 customers in the dark.

Germantown police said the outage was triggered by a grass fire that caused multiple transformers to blow.

While power and traffic signals have returned to most of the area, police have reported the intersection of Poplar Avenue and West Street remains without functioning lights. Germantown Police Department officers are on scene directing traffic and monitoring congestion…
