Half a dozen people chatting, coloring, eating and sitting on lawn chairs aren’t things you usually find in a parking spot on Madison Avenue, unless it was on Friday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
The University of Memphis Planning Student Organization, a group comprised of City and Regional Planning students, took over two parking spots off Madison and South Morrison Street for their first “Park-ing Day,” a global movement to turn parking spots into a temporary park.
