Buster’s Liquors and Wine to hire gas station employees after fire

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Buster’s Liquors and Wine on South Highland Street is hiring employees who lost their jobs at a gas station following a fire.

Last week, more than five employees lost their jobs after an electrical fire damaged the Hop In gas station on South Highland and Poplar Avenue.

Josh Hammond, the owner of Buster’s Liquors and Wine, says the employees are like family.

“We definitely know the employees over there,” Hammond said. “We are constantly visiting that place. It’s where I get gas. All our staff buys snacks over there and of course, they would come to shop with us. We got to know them.”

Another customer says he usually visits the gas station every time he goes to physical therapy and says it is always a great experience.

“They were always attentive, always helpful. Sometimes they even said don’t worry about the coffee,” said Aaron, an Exxon customer.

Hammond says when he heard about the fire he knew he had to take action.
