MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Police Department says crime in Downtown has decreased 55% since the opening of a new command center one year ago.
MPD made the announcement Friday, saying the Downtown Command Center was responsible for 143 arrests and 589 investigative assists in the past year.

“Since its launch, the DCC has become a critical tool in crime reduction and investigative support. Monitoring more than 300 cameras in real time, the center provides officers with immediate access to live intelligence,” MPD said in a statement.
