New details emerge about Memphis mayor’s accused stalker

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — There are new developments in a federal case for the man recently released from jail, who is accused of stalking Memphis Mayor Paul Young last summer.

Trenton Abston, 26, was arrested and charged in June 2025 with attempted kidnapping, stalking, and aggravated criminal trespass after he allegedly scaled a fence and knocked on the mayor’s East Memphis door.

Earlier this month, Abston was sentenced by a Shelby County judge to four years of diversion, avoiding a formal conviction and jail time.

But then, days later, we learned of the developing federal case against him. Last week, a warrant was executed, and he was placed in the custody of the U.S. Marshals’ office…
