MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The sentencing hearing for embattled Memphis gynecologist Sanjeev Kumar has once again been reset.
A motion was filed Thursday, April 23, in the United States District Court’s Western District of Tennessee showing that Chief Judge Sheryl H. Lipman has once again reset Kumar’s sentencing hearing date. It is not set for July 7, 2026.
In March 2026, Lipman granted Kumar a Remmer Hearing — a hearing to determine whether a jury, or juror, was influenced by external sources — following a post-trial evidentiary hearing to determine whether there was sufficient evidence to warrant one.
