MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Cuts are coming to programs that turn paychecks into pathways out of crime. As FOX13 reported last week, advocates in Memphis said the state is slashing $30 million for workforce development and community violence intervention programs.
“Digging out a hole with no ladder is hard,” said Chazatee Guess, who was incarcerated for more than two years. “It’s like a door slamming in your face, and you still got to be able to walk away with your head up.”
