MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Spirit Airlines has officially gone out of business, leaving thousands of people without a job and thousands now making new travel plans including those traveling in to and out of Memphis.
The lines at the Spirit Airlines ticket and check-in area at Memphis International Airport are empty.
Early Saturday morning, the airline announced it is winding down all operations, effective immediately.

All flights have been cancelled, and customer service is no longer available.
The move leaves thousands of people suddenly without a job and thousands of travelers looking for a new flight to their destinations…
