Former Shelby Co. corrections investigator sentenced for smuggling contraband to inmate

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A former investigator with the Shelby County Division of Corrections has been sentenced to federal prison for smuggling contraband to an inmate in exchange for payments.

A judge sentenced Deon Scott, 41, to 18 months in prison for his bribery conviction, to be followed by two years of supervised release. He faced up to 15 years’ imprisonment.
