Woman sets Buddhist temple on fire with monk inside, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The Memphis Police Department has arrested and charged a woman accused of setting a Buddhist temple on fire.

According to MPD, on May 11, officers responded to a vandalism call at the The Buddhist Temple on Jefferson Avenue.

When officers arrived, they learned that a fire had been set on the westside of the building by a female suspect, later identified as Trang Le, 45.

The victim, a Buddhist monk, informed officers that he saw Le outside vandalizing two statues; MPD says that she also set two air conditioning units on fire, in addition to the side of the building…
