‘She ain’t going to walk across the stage’: Crash leaves Marion teen with traumatic brain injury

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (WMC) – A Marion teenager is fighting for her life, struck by a vehicle just two nights before she was set to walk across the graduation stage. Her family is demanding answers.

Lashelle Olden says a car hit her daughter, Sanyia Oliver, while she crossed Avalon Avenue in West Memphis, Thursday, around 9 p.m. Sanyia had earned the chance to graduate a full year early with a high GPA. The crash caused a traumatic brain injury. Surgeons removed half of her left skull to relieve pressure on her brain.

Olden says she sent Sanyia to a hair appointment to prepare for graduation, then her daughter stopped responding to texts. When Olden finally called, Sanyia’s cousin answered with devastating news…
