First Alert for Extreme Heat Wednesday, Thursday across Phoenix area

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — First Alert Weather Days for extreme heat have been issued for Wednesday and Thursday, with expected highs in the 110-114 degree range. Heat warnings are also posted for metro Phoenix.

A small amount of monsoon moisture is pushing into southeast Arizona. For the next couple of days, we expect isolated, mainly dry thunderstorms in the mountains of eastern Arizona. These storms will have minimal amounts of rain and will be closely watched for the potential of a wildfire start. These storms will persist through Wednesday.

There was enough latent moisture around early Tuesday morning that helped produce a few thundershowers near Casa Grande. And there’s enough moisture in the atmosphere that some of our models are pushing a slight chance for isolated showers tonight while others are pushing isolated showers for Wednesday morning. Either way, the showers would be light and not likely to produce measurable rain…
