Chandler candidates questioned on Flock cameras

Chandler City Councilwoman Jane Poston said she’s conflicted on the Flock Safety license plate reader camera issue that is coming up for a vote soon.

“To be very fair, I’m conflicted on it,” Poston said during the Chandler Pride candidates forum on June 23. “I do see value. We had a horrific break-in, where we had a couple of people beaten. Flock cameras were part of finding those people that did that hit and run. We hear the stories from our police officers … about the benefits of what those cameras do.

“That being said,” she continued, “when we had that council meeting a couple of weeks ago, I walked into the meeting [feeling] comfortable and had been given assurances that our residents’ privacy would be protected and that they can feel safe.”…
