SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — Scottsdale is moving beyond warnings for parties at short-term rental houses.
The city council has unanimously approved a new ordinance giving police greater authority to shut down problem properties and imposing consequences for both partygoers and property owners.
The city says this is one of the busiest weekends of the year for short-term rentals, and the ordinance arrives just ahead of the Fourth of July.
Surge in complaints prompted the change
In May alone, Scottsdale issued 56 charges and citations, and police responded to 48 nuisance-related calls involving loud parties, criminal investigations, assaults and welfare concerns…
