Hawes Crossing in Mesa seeks 73 more acres for homes

The Planning and Zoning Board will hold a second public hearing Aug. 12 on a proposal to convert 73 acres zoned for business use to housing instead at the Hawes Crossing master-planned community in southeast Mesa.

No one from the public at the hearing July 29 spoke on the application for a major General Plan Amendment and rezoning.

As part of this request, they are still maintaining the mixed-use portion within the first 200 feet of Elliot (Road) as is required by the development agreement,” Senior Planner Josh Grandlienard said at the July hearing…
