TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — A firefighter was hospitalized early Thursday morning as crews worked to extinguish a fire at an East Valley home.
The fire broke out shortly before 6 a.m. on Palomino Drive, in a neighborhood near Warner and Rural roads in Tempe.
Tempe firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the second floor of the home. Other crews from Phoenix, Chandler and the Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (AFMA) also responded as the call was upgraded to a first-alarm response.
Firefighters initially entered the home but had to back out and battle the blaze from the outside because the fire had spread so quickly. Crews were later able to contain the fire before it spread to neighboring homes…
