Radar trends show cells intensifying near Gila Bend, the Sonoran Desert National Monument, and Maricopa, with movement oriented north and northeast. Multiple Storm Cells Tracking Toward the Valley
As of 7:55 p.m. MST, several storm cells south of the Phoenix Valley were building and moving northward, raising concern for potential impacts across Buckeye, Goodyear, and nearby communities within the next couple of hours. Radar imagery shows organized cells producing heavier rainfall signatures near the Arlington area along Interstate 10.
Additional cells were tracking north from the Gila Bend and Maricopa areas, with movement suggesting possible impacts extending toward the Gila Crossing area and points along the 202 corridor. Storm motion indicates continued northward progression into the evening hours.
Western Valley Communities Face Nearest Term Threat
Buckeye and Goodyear sit closest to the strongest storm activity currently tracking north along the Interstate 10 corridor near Arlington. Residents in these communities should prepare for the possibility of gusty winds, heavy rainfall, and frequent lightning as the cells continue their northward movement.
Areas farther east, including sections of Phoenix, Glendale, and Paradise Valley, should also stay weather aware given the potential for additional storm development or northeastward expansion of the activity currently centered near Maricopa and Gila Bend.
