Phoenix approves settlement in 2025 police crash that left man seriously injured

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The Phoenix City Council has approved a $175,000 settlement for a man who was seriously injured in a crash involving a Phoenix police officer last year.

According to a police report, the officer, Joshua Allen Woodcock, was going more than 50 mph over the posted speed limit when the crash occurred on March 14, 2025.

The crash happened near Buckeye Road and the I-17 Black Canyon Access Road in south-central Phoenix. The report stated the posted limit was 35 mph, but Woodcock’s estimated speed was between 86 and 89 mph…
