Officer hospitalized with ‘serious’ injuries after car hits patrol vehicle in central Phoenix

PHOENIX — A Phoenix police officer was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries after a car traveling in the opposite direction hit a patrol vehicle Monday evening in central Phoenix, authorities said.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, the crash occurred in the area of Seventh Avenue and Heatherbrae Drive around 6:28 p.m., and a second officer in the vehicle was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

The driver of the car involved in the crash refused transport. However, they were detained, and potential charges will be decided once the investigation is complete, police said…
