PHOENIX — A Mesa police officer is being investigated after he allegedly tipped off a narcotics suspect about an impending search warrant by another department, authorities said.
According to the Chandler Police Department, 50-year-old Edward Fire was charged with first-degree hindering for his role in alerting the target of a March 10 search warrant, which was related to a narcotics investigation.
“This individual’s deliberate and intentional actions directly placed officers at significant risk,” Chandler police spokesperson Ryan Cody said in a statement to KTAR News 92.3 FM. “Such actions create a serious, unnecessary threat to officer safety and will not be tolerated by the Chandler Police Department.”…
