Council last week delayed action until June 1 on a 124-room hotel and retail/restaurant proposal in northeast Mesa to give the developer time to bring the project up to the city’s liking.
The Longbow mixed-use project planned on 3.4 acres near Longbow Parkway and Recker Road needs council approval on the site plan, a rezone from light industrial and a council use permit.
“Our Economic Development director has serious reservations and concerns about the quality of this project as do our residents,” Councilwoman Alicia Goforth, who represents the area, said at the study session a week before the May 4 meeting. “I would like it continued so we can continue to work with the applicant and come to some agreement.”
The city last week wouldn’t comment if the two sides are able to reach consensus on the project…
