1 hurt in shooting at Phoenix motel; 2 detained

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Phoenix Police detained two people after a shooting at a motel left one person hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Police received a call around 2:15 a.m. reporting a shooting at the Motel 6 near Interstate 17 and Thomas Road. Officers found at least one man who had been shot, and first responders took him to a hospital.

Officers set up a perimeter at the Motel 6 and waited for the special assignments unit to arrive. That unit, which is the Phoenix Police Department’s version of SWAT, used drones and a flashbang before blowing down a door to detain two suspects…
