Home sellers across several major US cities are slashing asking prices at alarming rates as once red-hot housing markets continue to cool – raising fresh fears that buyers may be gaining the upper hand.
Nearly one in six active home listings nationwide carried a price cut in April, according to Realtor.com’s April 2026 Monthly Housing Report, with some metros seeing discounts on nearly a third of homes for sale.
