MIAMI, Florida — A Miami woman has been indicted for allegedly orchestrating a scheme to obtain and sell confidential Medicare beneficiary information, according to the Department of Justice.
Kenia Marrero, a 46-year-old resident of Miami, is accused of paying Joan Navarro Bruguet, a 51-year-old former employee of a Miami-based health care network, to provide her with confidential patient information, including Medicare beneficiary identifier numbers (BINs), according to court documents. The scheme reportedly ran from January 2022 through February 2025, with Navarro Bruguet accessing patient records and sending images of the information to Marrero via an encrypted messaging app.
Marrero allegedly paid Navarro Bruguet approximately $500 for each list of around 100 Medicare beneficiaries. She then worked with others, including Juan Carlos Cardella, to resell the stolen information for up to $7,000 per list to individuals involved in Medicare fraud schemes, according to the indictment…
