The Brownsville home of late Miami historian and preservationist Enid Pinkney is being marketed for $700,000 after a major renovation — a sharp new chapter for a woman who spent decades warning that Black Miami neighborhoods should not become disposable real estate.
The Miami Herald reviewed property records showing that Pinkney purchased the home in 1998, it was quit-claimed to Gary Allen in 2023 and later sold for $460,000. The records also show the property was acquired by NSGC Investing Services Inc., a Hollywood-based company.
Allen said the house needed roughly $200,000 in repairs and that he ultimately could not keep up with the costs, telling the Herald, “I could not keep up with the expenses.” The new listing describes a completely updated interior, turning Pinkney’s longtime residence into the latest test of what a renovated home can command in a historically Black neighborhood.

Redfin’s latest Brownsville market data puts the median sale price at $474,616 for the three months ending in May, making the asking price for Pinkney’s former home about $225,000 higher — roughly 47% above the neighborhood median.
