Off-duty Miami-Dade deputy is injured after car is struck by lightning

An off-duty Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputy was injured after his car was struck by lightning in Doral, according to Miami Herald news partner CBS News Miami.

The incident happened around 5:14 p.m. near the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue training center headquarters by Northwest 41st Street and 93rd Court, according to the TV station. Crews responded to the area for a medical call after reports of a vehicle hit by lightning, an MDFR spokesperson said.

“Investigators said the deputy was seated in his vehicle during an off-duty assignment when the vehicle was struck by lightning,” CBS News Miami reported…
