Florida’s universities continue to cement their place among the nation’s best, especially with the latest 2027 Best Colleges ranking by U.S. News & World Report. With multiple Sunshine State institutions securing spots in the top 100, local students and residents have plenty to celebrate — considering some of the top academic powerhouses are right here in Miami!

Which Florida schools made the top 100?

The five universities and their national rankings are:

  • No. 34 — University of Florida
  • No. 55 — University of Miami
  • No. 59 — Florida State University
  • No. 100 (tied) — Florida International University
  • No. 100 (tied) — University of South Florida

Gainesville’s University of Florida was the high-ranked school in all of Florida, while University of Miami in Coral Gables was the highest-ranked in the Miami Metro area.

UF, also ranked No. 3 in Best Value for In-State Students, received high marks due to factors like a four-year graduation rate of 85% and median six-year post-graduation salary of more than $56, 398.
