OAK CREEK, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Wisconsin say one person was rescued from the Lake Michigan water on Sunday evening after suffering a “traumatic” injury.
According to a release from the Oak Creek Fire Department, crews responded at 6:45 p.m. to Bender Park for reports of someone in the water needing to be rescued.

Upon arrival, officials were able to confirm that the victim was conscious, but they had suffered a traumatic injury and were unable to get out of the water on their own.
Bystanders were attempting to help the victim until rescue swimmers entered the water from the breakwater rocks and were able to stabilize the victim until additional rescue swimmers could enter the water and help swim the victim to a South Milwaukee rescue boat.
The victim was then brought to the boat launch, where they were treated and taken to a trauma center for additional medical care. Another involved individual refused to be taken to the hospital…
