A quiet stretch of Milwaukee’s south side turned into a violent crime scene early Monday when a 26-year-old man was cut with what police believe may have been a machete near South 16th Street and West Becher Street. The attack happened around 4:25 a.m., and the victim was rushed to the hospital in life-threatening condition as investigators began combing the area for clues.

Milwaukee police say officers found the 26-year-old near 16th and Becher at approximately 4:25 a.m. He was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, and as of now no suspects have been identified, according to CBS 58. Detectives are working to determine what led up to the assault and to confirm whether a machete was in fact used.
