Milwaukee’s Washington Park neighborhood is reeling after a bystander discovered the body of a 26-year-old woman in an alley near 44th and Garfield on Wednesday, triggering a full-scale death investigation.

Police say the woman was found naked and suffering from visible injuries. Officers responded after the passerby called 911, secured the scene, and opened an investigation into how she died. Authorities say the cause of death is still unknown as detectives continue their work.

According to WTMJ, the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner has identified the victim as 26-year-old Serena Trotter. The medical examiner’s office is still determining the official cause and manner of death.
