WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WFRV) – After an officer noticed a near collision between several vehicles, a search and rescue operation began for numerous ducklings who fell through a sewer grate while crossing the road.
The Wauwatosa Police Department posted a video of the rescue on its Facebook page, showing the efforts it took to rescue the ducklings while the concerned mom looked on.
The incident began when a patrol officer noticed several vehicles nearly collide near North Mayfair Road and West Meinecke Avenue. It then became evident that a duck and her ducklings were trying to cross the road.

Shortly after, the ducklings had fallen through a sewer grate, and after two careful rescue efforts with the help of the Wauwatosa Fire Department, the ducklings were safely retrieved and moved to a safer area off the road before being reunited with their mom.
