Man charged in theft of Nintendo Switch games

A St. Paul man has been charged with gross misdemeanor theft after police say he stole nearly $580 worth of Nintendo Switch games from the Eden Prairie Best Buy.

Kenneth Lamont Kelly, 54, was charged June 12 in Hennepin County District Court with theft of movable property without consent, valued at more than $501 but less than $1,001. The charge stems from a June 11 incident at the store, 11600 Leona Road.

According to the criminal complaint, a Best Buy employee told police she recognized Kelly as someone known to the store for shoplifting and reported seeing him there shortly before 1:42 p.m. After Kelly left, the employee reviewed surveillance video and saw him select eight Nintendo Switch games from a display, conceal them and leave without paying, the complaint states…
