West Nile reported in mosquitoes in three metro counties (copy)

West Nile virus has been detected in metro-area mosquitoes for the first time this year.

Mosquitoes collected June 17 at one location in Hennepin County, two in Ramsey County and one in Dakota County tested positive for the virus, according to a June 25 release from the Metropolitan Mosquito Control District.

The detections come about the time the virus is expected to appear in Minnesota, according to MMCD. Last year, Anoka County had an early positive sample collected in Oak Grove on June 18, about two weeks earlier than expected…
