Last weekend it was hot and humid but Mom felt it would be ideal for a walk around Lake Harriet. We never think to go there for some reason. It was time as I was last there with Madison in 2021. It is about a three mile walk around the lake.
Parking was not too hard to find on the street and we parked not far from the band shell which would make it easier to find our car when we finished our walk. I wanted to go on the other side and up on the stage but there was a choir event going on taking that idea off the board.
We found some pretty button flowers along the walking trail not from from the band shell.
Everything was nice about the walk except for the algae growing on the water. Mom is happy I don’t like water. I don’t want to go in the lake which means there is not danger for me with the algae.
See that thing over my shoulder, out on the water? That is a machine that is designed to clear and remove excessive aquatic plants and weeds from the water. It is near the beach so the may be where it is often used.
Remember not to feed the ducks if you are by the lake. We don’t know why they can’t be fed but we do like the rubber ducky to catch people’s attention to the request.
Two places around the lake have canoe racks. We saw a few paddle boarders and some people sailing but no one canoeing.
On the opposite side of the lake from where we started our walk, you can see downtown Minneapolis. It is a pretty view on a nice day. We know the city skyline can be seen from Lake Calhoun but we forgot it can be seen from Lake Harriet too.
That pretty much is it for that walk. We walked really fast and both of us were pretty hot and thirsty when we finished. It is a nice way to get some exercise on the way to Gramma’s house!

What a pretty walk and the lake is beautiful, even with the algae! We never knew that a machine existed for removing algae and such from the water.
It gets all the weeds and things off the bottom which is good for beach areas…
