‘Coordinated cyber attack’ targeted 30 water facilities across Minnesota

The State of Minnesota is stepping in to help dozens of cities impacted by cyber criminals targeting water facilities that at times, impacted operations.

In all, Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) says more than 30 community water systems across the state were hit by a “coordinated cyber attack” on July 26 and 27.

The incident prompted the state to immediately activate their cybersecurity incident response capabilities. As its teams assess the impact of the attack, the department is sharing information and guidance to help those impacted “contain, investigate, and remediate damages.”…
