Customs nightmare delays opening of St. Louis Park candy store

A new candy store in St. Louis Park has delayed its opening after a massive shipment of imported sweets got stuck in customs.

The Candy Shop, from the team behind Honey & Rye and Bakehouse, was forced to press pause on its grand opening weekend because all of their Swedish candy is trapped in customs.

“Things happen! We’ve been working around the clock getting ready for our grand opening… only to learn that the 6,000 pounds of candy we ordered months ago is stuck in customs and won’t be here in time,” reads a Saturday post from the store.

Owner Anne Andrus hopes to have the confections in hand soon and plans to open at 11 a.m. Friday…
