Ex-Minneapolis VA nurse indicted for stealing painkillers

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — A former nurse at the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Medical Center has been indicted on federal charges for allegedly obtaining a powerful painkiller through illegal means.

Steve Michael Kelley, 58, faces one count of obtaining controlled substances by misrepresentation, fraud, forgery, deception or subterfuge. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Elsa M. Bullard on Friday, according to U.S. Attorney Daniel N. Rosen.
