Dakota County considering cuts, large levy increases for 2027

APPLE VALLEY, Minn. — Like many around the state, Dakota County is in the middle of budget talks, with increases to property taxes likely on the way. The county is considering several options, though they could all still change.

Regardless, the three options include a double digit levy increase and cuts.

“We’re facing what I’ve been calling the perfect storm,” County Commissioner Laurie Halverson said. “So we have seen in the last year massive millions of dollars in funding shifts from the state and federal government.”…
