On June 17, 2025, Jose Luis Lopez-Xique broke into 22-year-old Kayli Arseth’s apartment and shot her after she rejected a romantic relationship with him.

Investigators uncovered that on June 16, Lopez-Xique murdered Arseth after she rejected his romantic advances on Snapchat, preferring to be friends.
