GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — On Sept. 7, 1993, Belinda Jensen first appeared on air at KARE 11. At 25 years old, she would be taking over as weekend meteorologist and Saturday morning co-host.
Though it was her first time on air, it was not her first time at KARE 11. She had interned at KARE 11 a few years before, after cold-calling Paul Douglas for help with a school paper.
When the weekend weather job became available, Douglas, the chief meteorologist at the time, said he knew Belinda would be the perfect fit. He saw something special in her, and right from the start, viewers did, too…
