State seeks tougher sentence in fatal Highway 212 crash

Prosecutors are seeking an aggravated sentence for a Victoria woman charged in a wrong-way crash on U.S. Highway 212 in Eden Prairie that killed a Hopkins man in April .

Amanda Lyn Merriman, 50, appeared Wednesday, May 13, in Hennepin County District Court, where Judge Michael E. Burns ordered a chemical dependency evaluation and left bail unchanged. A second omnibus hearing is scheduled for June 10.

Merriman remained in the Hennepin County Jail as of Thursday morning. Bail is set at $350,000 without conditions or $250,000 with conditions of release.

She is charged with one felony count of criminal vehicular homicide for allegedly causing a death while operating a motor vehicle negligently while under the influence of alcohol. The charge stems from an April 11 crash that killed Bohdan Antoniuk, 69, of Hopkins…
