Wisconsin Research Dogs Finding Forever Homes in Minnesota

About 50 beagles rescued from a Wisconsin research facility are arriving in Minnesota to find forever homes. The dogs, previously used in biomedical research at Ridgland Farms near Madison, Wisconsin, are now being prepared for adoption through Minnesota animal rescue organizations, according to CBS Minnesota.

This rescue is part of a larger effort involving 1,500 beagles released from Ridgland Farms. The facility faced years of criticism over animal welfare concerns and break-ins by animal activists trying to expose conditions, as documented by the Beagle Freedom Project. As part of a settlement to avoid criminal prosecution, Ridgland Farms agreed to release dogs to animal organizations across the United States.
