ST. PAUL, Minn. (KARE 11) – State lawmakers still have a number of unresolved bills on the table Sunday night ahead of an 11:59 p.m. deadline to pass legislation, including stabilization funding for struggling Hennepin County Medical Center and a $1.2 billion bonding bill for infrastructure across the state.
Legislative leaders and Gov. Walz reached a bipartisan agreement last week on HCMC, bonding and other major issues like lowering car tab fees, property tax relief and fraud bills. However, the terms of those broader agreements cannot become law without the House and Senate passing the measures as part of legislation and the governor signing them.
The 2026 legislative session is an even-numbered year, meaning there’s no constitutional mandate to finish a two-year budget like there was in 2025.
