MINNEAPOLIS — When the city of Minneapolis reveals the new sign for Birdell Beeks Way on Tuesday, a painful anniversary will carry new significance.
“This year, there will be a sense of joy in knowing that her name will forever be up there,” said Bunny Beeks, Birdell Beeks daughter. “Hopefully, it will also keep in the minds of others, let’s put the guns down. Let’s stop all the violence. There are too many innocent lives that get lost.”
It’s been nearly ten years since Birdell died in a shooting that shocked the city of Minneapolis.
